We followed the team mechanic Ritte Van Der Perren step by step while assembling the bike exactly as it is prepared for racing at the highest level.

The focus is on the Cervélo Áspero-5, a no-compromise, high-performance gravel bike designed for maximum efficiency, aerodynamics, and reliability. Every component is carefully selected and precisely installed to meet the demands of elite-level racing.

At the heart of the build is the Cervélo Áspero-5 carbon frameset in size 56 cm, paired with the matching Cervélo fork and fully integrated components. The aerodynamic Cervélo HB18 carbon cockpit creates a clean, race-focused setup optimized for speed and control.

Shifting and braking are handled by the latest SRAM RED XPLR AXS 13-speed drivetrain, offering wireless operation, outstanding precision, and race-proven reliability. Power transfer comes from a SRAM RED crankset with an integrated power meter and 40T chainring, paired with a 10–46 cassette for fast sections and steep climbs alike. A SRAM DUB Road-Wide T47a ceramic bottom bracket ensures minimal friction and maximum efficiency.

Rolling stock consists of Reserve Turbulent Aero wheels, with a 42 mm rim at the front and a 49 mm rim at the rear. These are fitted with Vittoria Terreno PRO T50 Mixed Gravel Race tires in 40C, delivering an ideal balance of speed, grip, and durability. Braking is provided by SRAM RED disc brakes, while Wahoo Speedplay Aero pedals complete the race-ready setup.

The result is a meticulously built gravel race bike with a total weight of just 7,629.5 grams, perfectly tailored to the needs of Wout van Aert and professional gravel racing.

Bike Specs – Wout van Aert | Cervélo Áspero-5
@teamvismaleaseabike

Frame &
