In 2018, I embarked on the famous Maratona Dles Dolomites with the goal of completing the long route, which was filled with challenging climbs and a dreaded cut off point. As a frequent Brevet rider, I knew the distance and time in the saddle were manageable, but the amount of climbing required careful pacing. With the knowledge of the challenging Passo Giau, I knew I needed to conserve energy for the later stages of the race. As I waited at the start line, a track by U.S.U.R.A featuring a sample from Total Recall played, sparking the inspiration for the journey ahead. This was the beginning of a memorable and challenging experience.
